DHTML ( Dynamic HTML ) is an exciting new technology that allows for precise positioning of Web page components as well as animation and special effect capabilities. DHTML layers allow the designer to place text or images on top or below other data.
Layers can be toggled on or off, resized, moved and animated. Here are a few simple examples. Currently, only two browsers support DHTML - Netscape 4 and Internet Explorer 4. Unfortunately, the specifications for DHTML in each of these browsers are (mostly) incompatible. All layer samples on this site are configured for Netscape 4.
